S&P Global affirms Qatar at 'AA-/A-1+' with negative outlook
Qatar’s ratings can be lowered

Doha – Mubasher: S&P Global on Saturday affirmed Qatar’s long and short-term foreign and local currency sovereign ratings at 'AA-/A-1+' with a negative outlook.

The Qatari government has utilised several fiscal assets to offset the impact of the Arab Quartet Boycott, S&P Global revealed.

The negative outlook reflects the geopolitical and economic risks facing Qatar due to the Arab Boycott, the international rating agency added.

Qatar’s ratings can be lowered if the impact of the boycott become more serious, affecting the country’s growth rate and weakening its fiscal performance, S&P Global noted.

“We could revise the outlook to stable if we perceived that the regional tensions had receded materially while Qatar's fiscal and external positions remained strong,” the UAE-based corporation concluded.
