The facility is planned to test an integrated megawatt-scale plant

Dubai – Mubasher: Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau, the organiser of the upcoming event, on Tuesday stated that it has signed an agreement with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Germany’s Siemens to launch a pilot project for a solar-driven hydrogen electrolysis facility.

The new facility is planned to test and showcase an integrated megawatt-scale plant to produce hydrogen using renewable energy from solar photovoltaic at the Solar Park, store the gas, the organiser revealed, giving no further details on the value of the project.

“Dewa and Expo 2020 Dubai intend to use fuel-cell vehicles powered by the green hydrogen generated at the facility,” Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau’s director general Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy commented.

"This project will not only result in the development of the region’s first solar-driven hydrogen electrolysis facility, but is an example of what can be achieved through collaboration between Expo 2020 Dubai and our partners,” she concluded.
