Saudi CITC renews request for licencing IoT

Saudi CITC renews request for licencing IoT
The requests aim to meet the spiraling demand for the IoT

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has renewed its request to obtain public consultation for issuing new licences for the Internet of Things (IoT).

Public consultation requests will also include proposed amendments for the current mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that provides mobile telecommunications.

The requests aim to meet the spiraling demand for the IoT, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported, citing the CITC’s statement as saying.

CITC plans to spur transferring to digital networks and services in a bid to meet the government's rising need to digitise its services in line with Saudi Vision 2030, as well as enhance telecoms market, and diversify services.

By the end of January, the CITC announced the launch of public consultation’s document to issue new licences for the IoT and proposed amendments for the current MVNO.
