CPI declined 0.1% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2017.

Mubasher: Qatar's inflation, based on consumer price index (CPI), declined 0.1% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2017, the Ministry of Development Planning & Statistics (MDPS) said in a report on Monday.

The report ascribed the year-on-year change in inflation to the net effect of increases in some groups and drops in others topped by the transport sector which jumped 6.6%, followed the highest drop in housing, water, electricity and gas segment, which dropped 4.1%.

Moreover, the CPI rose 0.3% in Q3-17 compared to the previous quarter on the back of the net effect of rises in some groups and falls in others led by the increase of food and beverages with 5.4%.

The transport, health and recreation and culture groups increased 1.4%, 0.7%, and 0.6%, respectively, while the housing, water, electricity and gas segment lost 1.8%, the ministry's data showed.
