Qatar’s PPI hikes 13.1% in Q3-17
The PPI declined 1.4% in Q3-17 compared to the previous quarter

Mubasher: Qatar's general Producer Price Index (PPI) increased 13.1% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2017, the Ministry of Development Planning & Statistics (MDPS) said in a report on Monday.

The PPI declined 1.4% in Q3-17 compared to the previous quarter, the report showed.

The PPI's 1.4% decrease is attributed to a drop in the prices of basic chemicals by 5%, followed by cement and other non-metallic products by 2.8%, while crude oil and natural gas, and petroleum products segments levelled down 1.3% and 0.7%, respectively.

Meanwhile, prices of other chemical products hiked 8.4%, followed by basic metals with 0.9% and rubber and plastic products with 0.7%, according to the statement.

On the other hand, the report ascribed the PPI's 13.1% year-on-year increase to the net effect of an increases in some groups and a decline in others led by the rise of refined petroleum products by 17.3%.

Similarly, crude oil and natural gas, other chemical products and man-made fibers levelled up 14.3% each, while cement and other non-metallic products decreased 3.5%, the ministry's data showed.
