UAE not to see 3rd mobile operator in 2018 - TRA
TRA is not considering to add another operator in the UAE besides Etisalat and DU in the meantime

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The UAE Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) is not planning to allow a third mobile network operator to enter the country's market in 2018.

The TRA is not considering at all to add another operator in the UAE besides Emirates Telecommunications Group (Etisalat) and Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Co (DU) in the meantime, according to Emarat Al Youm Newspaper.

The gradual huge decrease in prices is accompanied by improvements in the quality of provided services, the TRA noted.

The authority will continue observing the competitive scene among telecom firms and will launch new initiatives to reinforce competition in the UAE’s telecom sector.

Given that some mobile phone subscribers have previously called for a third operator, instead of Etisalat and DU, as it would give customers more options in terms of prices and quality of services, according to the newspaper.
