Switzerland's LafargeHolcim to invest CHF 200m in India

Mubasher: LafargeHolcim has announced plans to bolster its presence in India by building a new cement plant at CHF 200 million ($213.52 million) in investments.

The plant, which will be built in the state of Rajasthan, will serve customers in the northern part of the country including New Delhi.

It will be established by LafargeHolcim's subsidiary Ambuja Cement.

India is the second biggest global cement market for LafargeHolcim, revealed Group CEO Jan Jenisch, noting that the Asian country was forecast to continue to see high growth rates.

The new plant will have a clinker capacity of 3.1 million tonnes per year, the Swiss company said in a statement, noting that the plant's commissioning is expected for the second half of 2020.

"We are excited to invest in this highly attractive market to further strengthen our footprint and to reinforce our leading building materials position in India," Jenisch stated.
