Boursa Kuwait rises at Wednesday’s close

MubasherThe indices of Boursa Kuwait finished Wednesday’s trading session with a massive increase.

The benchmark price index added 20.8 points, or 0.31%, to 6,701.31 points, while both the weighted and Kuwait-15 indices gained 0.13% and 0.15%, respectively.

The bourse is currently lacking market-boosting catalysts, coinciding with FTSE Group's next-month review for Boursa Kuwait to define the companies that will be listed on the FTSE Emerging Markets Index, vice president of Investment Research at KAMCO Raed Diab told Mubasher. 

Boursa Kuwait is likely to see further fluctuation over the coming period until the emergence of fresh positive signs and the end of dividing the Kuwaiti stock market into submarkets, Diab added.

The oil sector topped the market’s five gainers adding 2.2% as NAPESCO hiked 12.22%.

Meanwhile, the telecommunications sector topped the bourse’s seven losers falling 0.83%, dragged by Aan Digital Services Company (AAN) and Kuwait Telecommunication Company (VIVA), which declined 7.66% and 0.52%, respectively.

Liquidity surged 28.5% to KWD 11.6 million on Wednesday from KWD 9.03 million on Tuesday, while the traded volume decreased 3.2% to 62.46 million shares compared to 64.53 million shares in the previous session.

Kuwait National Bank’s stock (KNB), which levelled down 0.39%, led the market in terms of liquidity with KWD 3.08 million, while Al Imtiaz’s stock, which advanced 0.71%, topped the market in terms of trading volume with 7.5 million shares.
