Lebanese mobile app passes Facebook, Instagram downloads on App Store

Mubasher: A social media application developed by Lebanese billionaire Ayman Hariri has topped the charts on the iOS app store last week, CNBC reported.

Launched in 2015 by founder and CEO Ayman Hariri, the brother of Lebanese prime minister Saad Hariri, Vero made massive headway on the back of tattoo and cosplay enthusiasts who have helped attract more users to the app compared to other social media platforms.

Through Vero, which is the Latin word for 'truth', users can share photos, links, music, movies, books. and locations.

Although the app is currently free, the parent company could eventually charge a subscription fee.
