Mubasher: A specially-made Rolex watch featuring the name of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the vice President and prime minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will be offered in the upcoming Christie’s Dubai auction on March 23.
The watch, which is a Role GMT-Master, was commissioned by Rolex Geneva in 2017 and is presented in a Rolex box with the crest of the UAE imprinted on it, as reported by Arabian Business.
The guide price of this timepiece is estimated within a range from $120,000 to $160,000 (AED440,000 to AED 580,000).
This Rolex watch also includes an artistic representation of the watch in the form of a digital drawing applied on aluminum and signed by the artist, Arabian Business added.
“Personalised Rolex watches are highly-prized gifts, often created to celebrate milestone occasions, and they are highly sought after by regional and international collectors,” the head of watches for Christie’s Middle East, India, and Africa, Remy Julia, said as reported by Arabian Business.
The head added, “The present reference 1675 with the name of HH Sheikh Mohammed in red is an exceedingly rare example of a Rolex GMT-Master model and given that it has never previously been offered to the market.”
Remy Julia expects strong interest in this commissioned watch from collectors in the UAE and all over the world.”
Arabian Business added that, according to Christie’s, watches bearing Sheikh Mohammed’s name were first ordered when he became the youngest defense ministry in the world in 1971, at the age of 22.
The Al Maktoum personalised GMT-Master will be among the 219-lot strong sale which will be available for viewing at Jumeirah Emirates Towers starting from 20 March and will be set for an auction on 23 March.
