Mubasher: Demand on US-manufactured goods fell for the first time in six months during January, reflecting lower business spending.
New orders on factory goods dropped by 1.4% in the first month of 2018, versus a rise of 1.8% in December, data by the US office for National Statistics (ONS) showed on Tuesday.
Economists, however, had expected a sharper decrease of 1.3% in January.
These falls were mainly driven by a 10% decline in demand on transportation equipment which was, in turn, hit by a 28% drop in civilian aircrafts orders.
The EUR/USD pair last jumped 0.58% to $1.2407.
