Mubasher: The President of the United States, Donald Trump has officially imposed 25% tariffs on steel imports and 10% on aluminum on Thursday.

Canada and Mexico, are expected to be excluded, as the US is seeking to reach a compromise on renovating the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

Surrounded by major members of his cabinet and American steelworkers, Trump signed the decision, saying that it aims to protect the national industry from unfair international trade practices that represent a “raid” on the country.

The decision was objected by the European Union and China, which rose fears of a possible global trade war, however, the American administration recently took a step back and offered to negotiate the tariffs with each country individually.
