Cairo – Mubasher: Israel Opportunity, one of the partners in the Ishai field, called on the Israeli government to stop any deal for gas export from Cypriot Aphrodite field to Egypt.

The Israeli company noted that such agreement affects its interests as Ishai field is deemed an extension of Cypriot Aphrodite field into the Israel economic water in the Mediterranean, according to Cyprus Mail.

“Development of the reservoir necessitates agreement between the parties on safeguarding the rights of both countries in the reservoir, and a dialogue is taking place with Cyprus on the matter,” Israel’s ministry of national infrastructure commented.

 Israel Opportunity chairman Rony Halman commented: “Such behaviour will lead to a significant loss of state revenue.”
