Saudi's US Treasury holdings hit $144bn in January
Saudi's holdings of US T-bonds jumped by 27.8% year-on-year in January

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia's holdings of US Treasury bonds jumped by 27.8% or $31.3 billion year-on-year during January 2018.

The kingdom’s investments in the US debt instruments amounted to $143.6 billion in the first month of 2018, compared to $112.3 billion in the same month a year earlier, US Department of the Treasury’s (USDT) data showed.

The oil-rich nation ranked 12th globally in the list of nations which are investing the US Treasury bonds, while it came first among the Arab peers, followed by the UAE with $55.1 billion.

Month-on-month, the kingdom’s investments in the US’ debt instruments declined 2.6% or $3.8 billion by the end of January 2018 to $143.6 billion, from $147.4 billion in December 2017.
