Mubasher: The United States Congress is trying to pass a $1.2 trillion bill to fund the federal government until the end of September, facing a deadline by Friday midnight.

A number of issues still stand in the way, including funding for the border wall proposed by President Donald Trump.

The issue of gun control also is of great importance especially after the recent school shooting in Parkland, Florida, which killed 17 young people last month.
