European manufacturing activity slows to 8-month low in March

Mubasher: The Eurozone’s manufacturing sector’s economic activity eased significantly in March, hitting 8-month low, driven by a sharp slowdown across all countries and sectors.

Final manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) registered 56.6 last month, down from 58.6 in February, data by IHS Markit showed on Tuesday.

Figures matched analysts’ forecasts of a 2-point decrease.

The decline was backed by increased signs of supply chain constraints that limit output growth and raise fuel prices.

“The further easing in the headline PMI mainly reflected slower growth of manufacturing production and incoming new business,” according to IHS Markit.

By 08:39 pm GMT, the EUR/USD pair rose 0.19% to $1.2325.
