Mubasher: The production of Iran's South Pars gas field is expected to increase by 84 million cubic metres per day during the coming months, managing director of Pars Oil and Gas Company Mohammad Meshkin Fam said on Sunday.

South Pars, the world's largest gas which is located on the joint border line between Iran and Qatar in the Persian Gulf, will add 3 billion cubic metres of gas per day upon the completion of developing the first production phase of the giant field (13- 14- 22- 23-  24) in the first half of the Iranian year, which began on 21 March, according to the semi-official Fars news agency..

“We will witness to produce 3 billion cubic meters of gas, an equivalent of 84 million cubic meters per day if the first phase of production chain is completed by the end of this summer,” Meshkin Fam said on the sidelines of his 2-day visit to Asaluyeh, the capital of Bushehr Province of Iran.

The second phase of production chain is forecast to be completed by the beginning of 2019, the top official added.

Iran has invested around $72 billion since starting the development of South Pars field and its investments are expected to rise to $87 billion.

About 70% of Iran's gas production is provided from South Pars field, which equates to the daily production of crude oil.
