Dubai Duty Free posts $523.5m sales in Q1
Liquor, perfumes, and tobacco topped the sold items in Q1-18

Dubai – Mubasher: Dubai Duty Free recorded an 11% year-on-year increase in sales during the first quarter of 2018, registering $523.46 million (AED 1.91 billion).

In March, sales surged 10% year-on-year to $180.92 million (AED 660.36 million), compared to the year-ago period, while the average sales per day hit $5.82 million (AED 21.23 million), the airport retailer said in a statement.

“We are very pleased with the first quarter of the year sales and are focused on reaching our targets for the year,” Dubai Duty Free’s CEO Colm McLoughlin commented.

The value of sales across Dubai International Airport’s three terminals soared, while liquor, perfumes, and tobacco topped the sold items in Q1-18.

“There are a number of factors behind the sales growth, including the refurbishment of Concourse C, which will be fully completed shortly and other ongoing projects,” McLoughlin said.
