Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) on Tuesday announced signing a contract with General Electric (GE) to improve efficiency, performance, and reliability of the nation’s power sector.

GE and SEC said they are planning to continue collaboration to achieve digital transformation goals for the Saudi power sector, in line with the Saudi Vision 2030.

The two parties’ mutual business will be focused at SEC’s Generation Optimization Center (GOC) which is linked to more than 25 power plants that are forecast to generate over 40 gigawatts (GW) of electricity, SEC said in a statement.

“Through the MoU with GE, we are building upon ongoing digital transformation initiatives launched by SEC and GE in the kingdom to achieve higher levels of productivity in the power industry from the point of generation to transmission and distribution,” SEC’s CEO Ziyad Al Shiha said.

On the same line, the two companies have started a training programme for more than 50 SEC employees on running the GOC and to provide digital transformation solutions.

The agreement was inked during the second annual Saudi-US CEO Forum under the theme, ‘An Era of Transformation: From Vision to Implementation’ with the attendance of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, SEC revealed.
