Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi-based Middle East Healthcare Company (Meahco) has signed a contract to establish a 100-bed hospital in Al Marjan Island, Ras Al Khaimah as part of its expansion plans in the UAE.

The project will provide a raft of healthcare services including cosmetic, medical, and rehabilitation departments for Ras Al Khaimah and Al Marjan Island residents and visitors, Meahco, the owner of Saudi German Hospitals in Saudi Arabia, said in a statement.

"With the new hospital in Al Marjan Island, we aim to provide excellent and integrated healthcare services that will meet the needs of the people, it will serve the residents and visitors to Al Marjan Island and the wider community,” Saudi German Hospital Group’s president Sobhi A Batterjee commented.

The fresh hospital is forecast to be opened by the beginning of 2019, Meahco noted.

The facility will initially provide seven specialties, while it will offer specialist care in 13 disciplines, as well as boost the number of beds by 2020, Batterjee added.

“With the increase in the number of residents and visitors, it is important that we offer them truly world-class healthcare services in close proximity,” Marjan Island’s CEO Abdullah Al Abdooli said.

Meahco gave no further details on the cost of the new hospital.

In March 2018, Meahco had reported a 17.25% decrease in its net profits to SAR 300.08 million during the full-year 2017, compared to 362.64 million a year earlier.
