Mubasher: Qatari energy and industry minister Mohammed Saleh Abdulla Al Sada stated that Tarsheed initiative helped save 265 billion cubic metres of natural gas within five years. 

The total cost of the saved gas quantities amounted to QAR 5 billion during the period between 2012 and 2017, Al Sada added.

The initiative also helped in reducing harmful emissions by an average of 1.5 tonnes per year, the minister noted. 

Tarsheed's mission is to enhance initiatives in Qatar's healthcare and education sectors by developing their institutional capacity.

The programme aims at generating electricity through using several kinds of renewable energy within an average ranging between 500 megawatts per hour and 700 megawatts per hour by 2022.
