Mubasher: Oman Broadband Company (OBC) is working to provide fiber optic service for Muscat, expecting to cover 85% of the residential areas in the governorate by 2020, according to CEO Said Al-Mantheri.

Fiber optic service will be completed in Al A’mirat and Al Khuwair, in addition to some expansions in Al Khoudh, Al Maabila, Bousher, Al Ansab, Ruwi and Al Qurum, the company said in a statement, as reported by the Oman News Agency (ONA).

Supplying fiber optics has exceeded the rate set by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), and OBC is expecting it to exceed 65% of the governorate of Muscat by next year.
