Arabtec unit awarded AED 433m deal from Dubai Municipality

Dubai – Mubasher: Arabtec Holding on Sunday announced that its subsidiary, Arabtec Engineering Services (AES), has been awarded an AED 433 million ($117.91 million) contract from the Dubai Municipality.

Works on the project, involving infrastructure works at the DS188 Jebel Ali Industrial Sewage and Draining System, will begin in May and extend for a 30-month period.

“The project scope comprises of 65 km of sewer and 91 km of storm water network which will require 17 km of micro-tunneling works. The purpose of the project is to supply sewerage and storm water drainage services for Community 599 in the Jebel Ali Industrial Area (Jafza),” Arabtec said in a statement to the Dubai Financial Market (DFM).

It further revealed that AES had previously completed and delivered 12 projects to Dubai Municipality. The total value of these projects amounted to AED 909 million across the past nine years.

AES CEO Amin Shahin said he was “pleased and honoured” to be working once more with the Dubai Municipality, with which the company has dealt and executed works for over two decades.

Meanwhile, Hamish Tyrwhitt, Arabtec Group CEO, stated that this new deal “continues our long-standing relationship with Dubai Municipality,” noting that it also “aligns with our strategic priority to pursue opportunities in the infrastructure sector providing sustainable growth for the Group.”
