UAE, US look to bolster bilateral relations

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: UAE minister of state for financial affairs Obaid Humaid Al Tayer has convened with US treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin to discuss opportunities for bolstering mutual cooperation in combatting money laundering and terrorist financing in Washington, the US.

Mubarak Rashed Al Mansouri, governor of the Central Bank of the UAE, and Omar Al Shamsi, deputy chief of mission at the UAE Embassy in Washington, and Alia Al Suwaidi, also from the UAE Embassy in Washington, DC. Also attended the meeting.

“The meeting was held alongside the 2018 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) in Washington, DC, taking place from 20 to 22 April,” a statement released by the Ministry of State for Financial Affairs showed on Sunday.

Other items on the agenda included customs tariff issues and meeting the requirements of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

The UAE and US parties agreed to continue the exchange of information and coordination between the relevant parties, to serve the interest of both countries.
