Mubasher: Jazeera Airways on Wednesday reported an improvement in its financial results for the first quarter of 2018, as its operating revenues increased and its losses decreased.

Results showed double-digit growth in both revenue and flown passengers, as operating revenues hiked 42.7% year-on-year to KWD 14.3 million in Q1-18.

Meanwhile, net losses reached KWD 300,000 ($997,800) during the three-month period ended 31 March 2018 versus a loss of KWD 947,705 ($3.152 million) for the same period of the previous year, the airline said in a statement.

“Jazeera Airways’ improved operational and financial performance were a result of the significant investments in customer experience enhancement, new routes launches, and higher asset utilisation in 2017,” the company highlighted.

For the full-year 2017, profits of Kuwait's publicly listed low-cost carrier fell 23.7% year-on-year to KWD 8.2 million.

“Despite the first quarter being a low travel season historically, we saw a 43.1% increase in flown passengers this year, a 42.7% growth in topline earnings, and significant improvement in our bottom line earnings,” Marwan Boodai, Jazeera Airways chairman, said.
