Mubasher: BP has decided to lay off around 3% of its work force in exploration and production sector (upstream).

The move that aims at cost reduction comes despite the recent surge in crude oil prices, and it will include 540 jobs in the sector that has around 18,000 employees.

The British company aims at increasing its efficiency and flexibility.
