Chinese firms nab 2 spots in world’s biggest brands

Mubasher: The world’s most valuable brands list just witnessed the addition of two Chinese companies.

China’s Alibaba and tech group Tencent were ranked among the top 10 brands alongside giants such as Google and Apple, according to BrandZ.

Jack Ma’s Alibaba, which recently saw its brand value nearly double to $113 billion, came in at number 9, after the business expanded to include mobile payments and cloud computing services.

Shenzhen-based Tencent came in the middle of the list, ranking higher than Facebook but below Google, Amazon, and Microsoft.

Tencent’s brand value surged 65% to $179 billion.
