UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait provide $2.5 bn aid to Jordan
Jordan saw major anti-austerity protests

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait have agreed to pay $2.5 billion in economic aid to Jordan, to help the Hashemite Kingdom overcome its economic crisis, which followed anti-austerity protests.

The aid package was announced following an emergency summit of the three GCC nations and Jordan held in Makkah, according to Emirates News Agency (WAM).

“The package will include a deposit in the Central Bank of Jordan, World Bank guarantees for Jordan, annual support for the Jordanian Government’s budget over five years, and financing from funds for developmental projects,” WAM revealed.

Jordanian King Abdullah II expressed his appreciation to the three countries for this quick response and for the generous aid.
