Mubasher: Telefonica has announced that it will launch its O2 brand in Spain in the coming period.

“The new O2 services will be activated in beta mode in the coming days,” Telefonica noted, adding that the new brand “will be aimed at a premium service segment with a simple offer.”

The brand’s commercial launch is expected to take place after three months, the Spanish telecommunications operator said.

“The brand will sell a mobile phone-only plan for EUR 20 ($23.5) per month, as well as a mobile phone plus fiber-optic internet services plan for EUR 45 per month, but the offer won't include TV services,” Telefonica stated.

After launching its O2 brand in Spain, the European company will have three telecommunication operators in the country, where it currently owns low-cost segment operator Tuenti and comprehensive residential communications and television service provider Movistar.
