The cabinet agreed upon a legislative package of visa facilitation

Dubai – Mubasher: Chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the UAE cabinet has approved a number of strategic decisions concerning foreign workers’ insurance in the private sector.

The cabinet also agreed upon a legislative package of visa facilitation, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

The new decisions include an insurance plan for workers’ guarantees.

Moreover, the mandatory deposit has been changed to AED 60 annually per worker instead of of AED 3,000 per worker. The new plan aims at securing workers’ rights in the private sector, in addition to reducing burdens on employers.

The plan allows businesses to recover about AED 14 billion, representing the value of current guarantees paid by employers, which will enhance workers to develop in their businesses, WAM added.

Moreover, the cabinet agreed on a number of visa facilitation for UAE visitors, residents, families and people overstaying their visa.

The UAE will also exempt transit passengers from all entry fees, only for the first 48 hours.

Meanwhile, transit visa can be extended for up to 96 hours with a total fee of AED 50.
