Mubasher: Kuwait’s balance of trade with Japan in May 2018 registered a surplus that is 12.2% lower than the same month a year ago, according to recent official statements.
The trade balance surplus stood at 42.3 billion Japanese Yen ($380.7 million) in May 2018 compared to 48.19 billion Japanese Yen ($433 million) in May 2017.
The decrease in trade surplus is attributed to lower Kuwaiti exports to Japan by 10.1% to 54.9 billion Japanese Yen ($494 million) in May this year compared to 61 billion Japanese Yen (549 million) in May 2017.
Kuwaiti imports from Japan stood at from 12.6 billion Japanese Yen ($113 million) in May 2018 from 12.86 billion Japanese Yen ($115.7 million) in May 2017, a year-on-year decline of 2%.
