Egypt’s exports to US soars 105% in 2017 - CAPMAS
Egyptian imports from the US rose 81.9% to EGP 69.1 billion in 2017

Cairo – Mubasher: The value of Egyptian exports to the US rose 105.5% year-on-year in 2017, recording EGP 23.6 billion from EGP 11.5 billion.

Exports to the US made up 5.1% of Egypt’s total exports, according to data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

Ready-made clothing exports surged 88.8% last year to EGP 12 billion, versus EGP 6.4 billion in 2016, making up 51% of the North African nation’s total exports to the US.

Meanwhile, Egyptian imports from the US rose 81.9% to EGP 69.1 billion in 2017 from EGP 38.1 billion in 2016, making up 5.9% of the most populous Arab country’s total imports.

American investments in Egypt grew by 195.7% year-on-year to EGP 79.9 million in 2017, compared to EGP 27.02 million.
