Riyadh – Mubasher: Al Haramain high-speed rail project is expected to officially commence its trips this year.
The project is considered the biggest in the Middle East and will ease traffic on the roads connecting Makkah to Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, according to Mohamed Fedda, the project’s general manager.
About 138 rail bridges and 850 tunnels were executed in the mega-project, Fedda added.
The fast train will travel across the two holy cities in over two hours, at a speed of 300 km per hour.
Al Haramain high-speed train is projected to start the commercial operation in September.
