BMW sales rise in H1 on solid demand

Mubasher: Bayerische Motoren Werke (BMW) announced that its sales registered an increase of 1.8% in the first half of 2018, as reported by MarketWatch.

The German premium auto maker’s higher sales are attributed to strong demand in Europe, the Americas, and Asia.

BMW has sold 1.24 million cars from January to June 2018, compared with 1.22 million in the corresponding period a year earlier, MarketWatch added.

Sales for June increased by 2.7% to 238,920 units, the German company said.

“First-half sales of electrified BMW and Mini cars rose more than 42%, particularly in markets which provide incentives to buyers of electric vehicles, the company said,” as reported by MarketWatch.

BMW Board Member for Sales and Brand BMW Pieter Nota said, "Three quarters of the vehicles we sell in Norway are electrified, while one in three BMW 5 Series delivered in California is now a plug-in hybrid.”
