CBK’s assets fall 1.5% in June
Total assets amounted to KWD 10.96bn in June

Mubasher: The Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) on Monday announced that its assets went down 1.5% month-on-month in June, registering the first drop since October 2017.

Total assets amounted to KWD 10.96 billion ($36.21 billion) last month, compared to KWD 11.13 billion ($36.76 billion) in May, according to CBK’s statement to Mubasher.

On a yearly basis, the central bank’s assets grew 14.5% in June, versus KWD 9.57 billion in the same period a year earlier.

Moreover, CBK’s gold reserves recorded KWD 31.74 billion, while foreign-currency cash balances, bonds, and deposits went down 1.9%, registering KWD 10.84 billion.

On the other hand, the central bank’s other assets reached KWD 88.24 million during June, from KWD 43.74 million in the month before.

The total value of currency issued decreased 1.6% month-on-month to KWD 1.85 billion in June.
