JetBlue seeks to finalise A220 jet order talks with Airbus

Mubasher: David Neeleman, the founder of JetBus Airway Corporation, and a group of investors are at pains to complete negotiations with European planemaker Airbus for purchasing a number of 60 A220 jets.

The deal could be announced this week at the Farnborough International Airshow in case of resolving several sticking points that may threaten the purchase orders, sources familiar with the matter told Bloomberg News.

It is noteworthy that Farnborough Air Show will take place during the period between 16 – 22 July at Farnborough Airport, United Kingdom.

The sources, however, said that there’s no guarantee that the negotiations will lead to a jet order. They did not provide any estimate of the purchase order's cost.

Should the parties succeed in reaching a deal, it would considerably help Airbus quickly build an order book for the plane.

“To make the jet viable, Airbus says it needs a “double-digit’’ reduction in supply-chain costs and is in the process of negotiating with suppliers,” Bloomberg said.
