Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) ended Wednesday in the green, backed by the banks and energy sectors.

The general index added 0.35% or 16.42 points to close at 4,755.01 points.

Turnover amounted to 132.157 million after 50 million shares were exchanged through 621 transactions against AED 114.82 million and 30.89 million shares on Tuesday.

The energy sector increased 0.74% after Abu Dhabi National Energy Co. “TAQA” jumped 4.17%, while the banks sector grew 0.49% as First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) gained 0.78% and 0.26%, respectively.

The investment sector rose 2.09% backed by Waha Capital’s 2.29% increase.

On the other hand, the real estate sector was down 0.15% after Eshraq Properties shed 1.56%.

Activity on the ADX was relatively calm on Wednesday due to lower trading volumes and turnover, commented director of Al Sharhan Shares Centre Jamal Ajaj.

Indices are seeing minor movements despite the positive financial results posted so far including Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) and Emirates NBD, which have not helped trades much, the analyst told Mubasher.
