The project is one of the five main power plants implemented by Kahramaa as part of preparations for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Mubasher: The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) on Thursday announced the beginning of operating its Al Hidan power plant, which will provide electricity to Al Bayt Stadium.

The project’s total cost amounted to QAR 138 million, Essa Hilal Al Kuwari, Kahramaa's president said on Twitter.

The project is one of the five main power plants implemented by Kahramaa as part of preparations for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The new power plant is part of the 11th phase of the Qatar Power Transmission System Expansion Plan, Al Kuwari added.

“The station will serve Al Bayt Stadium with a voltage of 132/11 kilo volts (kV), a capacity of 80 mega volt amp and will be fed through the South Al Khor station and Semesma with a cable holding voltage of 132 kV for a length of 20 km,” Qatar's state-run utility said.

Al Kuwari noted that the company appointed Siemens, the largest industrial manufacturing company in Europe, to implement the station.
