14 injured in knife attack in Germany

Mubasher: At least 14 people have been reportedly wounded, with two critically injured, in a knife attack on a bus in Germany, while a police spokesman confirmed that no person was killed.

A packed bus was attacked on Friday in the Kücknitz district of the northern city of Lübeck, while it was heading to the popular beach of Travemünde, according to local media.

The driver stopped the bus immediately to let passengers escape, after a man suddenly pulled a weapon on passengers. “The perpetrator had a kitchen knife," a witness living near the scene told local newspaper Lübecker Nachrichten.

Police personnel that happened to be nearby get to the scene quickly, allowing them to detain the suspect, believed to be in his mid-30s while his motive was not established.

"There is currently a major police deployment in Luebeck," the police force said via Twitter, adding that they are “examining the situation and will give more information later."
