Five sectors boosted the market, led by the real estate firms

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed the week ended 2 August in green territory despite high liquidity.

The general index grew 373.33 points, or 3.9%, to close the week at 9,981.22 points, while trading volume levelled up 31.7% to 41.08 million shares.

Five sectors boosted the market, led by the real estate firms with 12.9%, followed by the insurance sector with 2.92%.

Meanwhile, the telecommunication sector headed the market’s losers falling 3.47%, followed by the good and services sector, which declined 0.53%.

Moreover, 26 stocks ended the week higher, led by Ezdan Holding Group, which surged 23%, whereas 16 stocks closed in the red, led by Al Khaleej Takaful with 4.6%. Three QSE-listed stocks ended the week stable.

By the end of the week, the market value advanced 5.1% to QAR 550.54 billion, compared to QAR 523.79 billion in the prior week.
