Dubai – Mubasher: Dubai Holding and Emaar Properties will launch Dubai Square, a new $2 billion retail city in Dubai Creek Harbour.

Situated on 2.6 million square metres, the new project comprises a futuristic retail, hospitality, and residential district.

The ground floor of the project will comprise celebrity performances, concerts and theatre shows in a futuristic entertainment arena with 3D projection mapping, theatrical sound and lighting, CNN reported.

Commenting on the master plan, Emaar’s spokesperson said: “Dubai Square pushes the boundaries of modern retail and leisure by drawing on next-generation technology.”

The project will cater to technology fanboys, especially millennials, the Emirati developer noted.

Dubai Square changes the traditional mall and retail experience, playing a key role in further positioning Dubai as the next champion of global retail, Emaar Properties’ chairman Mohamed Alabbar said.

“Dubai is experiencing tremendous tourist inflow and continues to rank highly as a holiday destination for people from many different parts of the world,” Dubai Holding's chairman Abdulla Al Habbai commented, according to a company statement.

Dubai Square is planned to be linked directly to the Dubai Creek Tower through an underground extension, Emaar revealed.
