Qatar’s IPI registers 105 pts in June – MDPS
The index of the mining sector showed a 3.4% decrease in June

Mubasher: Qatar’s industrial production index (IPI) remained unchanged at 105.4 in June, compared to the same period in 2017, the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) said in a statement on Wednesday.

The manufacturing index of the world’s biggest liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter consists of three main components, namely mining represents 83.6%, while manufacturing, electricity, and water account for 15.2%, 0.7%, and 0.5%, respectively.

The index of the mining sector showed a 3.4% decrease in June, compared to a month earlier, as a result of the drop in the quantities of other mining and quarrying by 7.2%, and crude oil and natural gas by 3.3%, the statement showed.

As for electricity and water, they also witnessed a 2.7% drop, while water supplies fell 11.5%, the ministry's data found.

Meanwhile, the production of other subgroups of the manufacturing index witnessed an increase of 2.1% topped by the Manufacture of basic metals, which rose 18%.

Month-on-month, the Qatari IPI went down 2.9% to 105.4 points in June, from 108.5 points in May.
