Gold settles slightly lower as USD remains strong

Mubasher: Gold prices declined on Thursday, as the Dollar remained near its highest level in 13 months against major currencies, as global risks cooled down.

The United States and China are set to resume trade talks later this month.

Gold was briefly supported by a slight decline in the USD, but remained below the level of 1,200.

The precious metal futures for December delivery decreased by 0.1% to the level of 1,184 per ounce.

On Wednesday, gold lost nearly $16, due to the dollar surging to a 16-month high.
