Mubasher: Qatar Fuel (Woqod) on Monday announced that it has recently floated tenders to construct four fuel stations on the Orbital Highway and the new truck road connecting Mesaieed, Hamad Port, Dukhan, Lusail and Al- Khor.

The stations will be built in coordination with the Urban Planning Department of the Ministry of Municipality & Environment, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and the Ministry of Transport and Communications in the selection of sites for those stations, according to Woqod’s statement.

The stations will cover an area of 20,000 square metres, in addition to an extra area of 20,000 square metres next to the fuel station to be used for parking and rest area.

The design of the stations is taking into consideration the separation of entrances and exits as well as internal movement between cars and trucks for ease of traffic, the state-run firm noted.

Moreover, it aims at ensuring the smooth and easy provision of the required services at the stations, in addition to providing all the security and safety standards in accordance with the requirements, specifications and standards in force in Qatar, the statement showed.

It is worth noting that Woqod targets establishing around 120 fuel stations by the end of 2020.

By the end of Monday’s session, Woqod’s stock rose 0.70% at QAR 144.52.
