Mubasher: China’s job market remained stable in August, with the joblessness rate is at a relatively steep level, official data revealed on Friday.
The surveyed unemployment rate in urban parts of China was 5% in August, seeing a fractional decline of 0.1% from July, and the same month of the prior year, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The rate is based on the count of unemployed population which participated in the employment survey in urban areas, including migrant workers in cities.
The urban unemployment rate in 31 main Chinese cities ticked down 0.1% to 4.9% in August compared with the previous month, while it remained unchanged from the year before.
It is worth noting that the NBS started on a regular basis from April this year to survey joblessness rate in urban areas to help the government in improving macro-control and provide information for employment policy makers.
