Qatar, Portugal consider boosting maritime cooperation
Qatar is working on launching several maritime lines

Mubasher: Qatar’s Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti held talks with Portuguese Minister of Sea Ana Paula Vitorino.

The two parties met in Lisbon on Tuesday and discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries and means of further cooperation in all fields.

They stressed the importance of improving the maritime sector between the two nations in the future, according to the ministry of transport and communication’s statement.

Moreover, they considered the draft agreement on marine transport set to be signed soon.

It is worth noting that Qatar is working on launching several maritime lines to get over the negative economic influences that took place after the Arab rift.

Since 5 June 2017, Qatar has been facing outflows of foreign customers' deposits after four Arab countries led by Saudi Arabia cut their diplomatic and trade ties with the gas-rich state, accusing Qatar of financing terrorism. Doha forcefully denies the charges.
