Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud will open the Haramain Express high-speed rail line on Tuesday, 25 September, transport minister Nabil bin Mohammed Al-Amoudi has said.

The King and the Crown Prince aim to double the number of pilgrims and Umrah performers to Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported, citing Al-Amoudi as saying.

Al-Haramain train project is the first electric train in the region, Saudi Railways Organization’s (SRO) president Rumaih AL-Rumaih stated.

The train’s length is 450 kilometres, with a dual line linking five stations, namely: Makkah, Jeddah, King Abdulaziz International Airport, King Abdullah Economic City, and Medina, Al-Rumaih added.

The SRO’s president further noted that Al-Haramain operational speed is 300 kilometres per hour, while it was implemented on three phases.
