Qatari bourse ends week with slim gains

Mubasher: The Qatar Exchange (QE) saw a relatively positive performance this week, supported by the gains of four market sectors.

The general index rose by 0.18% or 17.89 points, and ended the week at the level of 9,784.31 points.

Market capital rose by 0.62% to QAR 546.66 billion, compared with QAR 543.29 billion by the end of last week.

The goods sector index led the gainers as it rose by 4.38%, followed by banks, industrials, and telecoms with gains of 0.82%, 0.71%, and 0.17%.

On the other hand, three sectors ended the week in red as insurance, transportation, and real estate dropped 3.76%, 3.49%, and 0.22%, respectively.

As for the stocks’ performance, Qatar Fuel was the top gainer as it surged by nearly 8%, while Doha bank was the biggest loser and fell by 9.40%.

In total 16 stocks ended the week in the green zone, while 28 registered losses, and only one remained unchanged.

Traded values declined by 9.1% to QAR 1.23 billion, down from QAR 1.35 billion last week.

Traded volumes also decreased by 12.6% to 32.6 million shares, compared to 37.2 million shares in the week before.

The total number of transactions levelled down by 1.24% to around 17,660.
