Oman – Mubasher: Oman has been named the safest country in the world, according to the Global Competitiveness Report 2018, released by the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Oman’s police service was ranked the best amongst its Arab peers, while the Royal Oman Police (ROP) was rated fifth globally in terms of the 'liability of police services'.

In response, ROP said that the country’s security strong situation was a consequence of its political stability, adding that the report’s findings reflect the sultanate’s “absence of terrorist attacks, thanks to the political and security stability that (Oman) enjoys".

The Global Competitiveness Report measures factors that contribute to speeding up production and prosperity of 140 countries around the world. The report relies on 12 core categories that are considered the pillars of the Competitiveness Index.
