Mubasher: Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP) announced that it has inked an agreement with Germany’s WTE Wassertechnik GmbH Group and Kuwait’s International Financial Advisors (IFA) to expand the Umm Al-Hayman (UAH) Wastewater Treatment Project and its related works.

The project’s total cost amounted to KWD 382 million ($1.26 billion), CNBC Arabia reported.

The Umm Al-Hayman project will involve the design, financing, building, testing, commissioning, operation, maintenance and transfer of wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 500,000 square metres a day.

In the future, the plant’s capacity could be expanded by 200,000 square metres to reach a final capacity of 700,000 square metres per day.

In October, KAPP announced that it has approved the consortium of WTE and IFA to implement the project.

The project aims at improving the overall state of infrastructure in Kuwait’s water and wastewater sector.

It also targets ensuring the standard of sanitary services in the GCC country in line with both international and local environmental guidelines and best practices.
